I like the word choices you provided in blog post number one. It was very clear and I could understand what you were trying to explain and I enjoyed the whole blog post. When reading it I could tell you spent some time trying to make it. Maybe there are a bit of grammar errors but I could see that you had a great explanation. I like the fact that you know what you're talking about and the vocabulary was really good. I can see you put your good work to make this a great blog post! If I were someone who hasn't read the Giver book yet, this would be a great help because it shows your opinion and information of the book. You did very well with this blog post and you showed that you put effort into the post.

The only thing need to be improved is the fact that you made two paragraphs with the same information so if I were you, what I would do, is add the paragraphs into one, or make another paragraph about other information. For example, one paragraph is saying, NO my life shouldn't be decided for me the second saying, My parents chose also for me and the third saying, my life is my choice. That is the only thing I would suggest you fix. Other than that you did a good job with the passages.

GREAT JOB!!! :)

For blog post number two, this is very good. You changed exactly what was needed to be changed in the first blog post. Each paragraph had different information because the first paragraph was the explanation of what happened in the book, the second paragraph had your opinion about the fact that Jonas could see color. The last paragraph was about the last information that you might have not included in the first paragraph. You did well on the first blog post but this is MUCH better and I wouldn't change anything about it!!! Nice work, I can see you used your time properly to make this blog post!!!

ONCE AGAIN GREAT JOB!!! :)

The question I chose to answer was:

Why did the Giver say that making choices would be frightening for people?

The community in The Giver, is a very planned out community where everything is supposed to be perfect. So all choices don't need to be made by the citizens and they just need to let the choices be chosen for themselves. It is important they be co-operative because they could get in trouble or face the consiquences of being released. It is difficult to know if a choice could be dangerous because they are so used to having choices being chosen without any effort needed from themselves.

It's always hard to make choices and this goes for me, too. In my community, when you're young, choices are made by you and sometimes help of your parents. Even though we always need to make choices, it's very hard when you don't know what will happen in the future. In the community of the Giver, they always know the plans of the future, but when they have to make a decision by themself it's very different for them.

Making choices has always been a hard thing to do even for thoughs who do it quite often. It can be easy, but knowing if the decision would come back to you in a negitive way is always the hardest part about making choices.

Blog post #1 The GIVER

I chose to respond to this sentence:

1. Would you want your future to be decided by others? Why or why not?

I would definitely say no because if my future were to be decided for me then there would be nothing exciting in life. I love to know that something really unexpected can happen at any time and I wouldn't even see it coming. People say that they are afraid of the unknown, but what is there not to know when your whole life is planned out. Life is about making choices and learning from your mistakes and without that, life is BORING!!! Sometimes, I would like to know that if I have a EXTREMELY difficult choice to make then I could let the decision to be chosen for me without me needing to think so much and worrying; however, this is no excuse to let someone plan my life for me. If decisions for my life were made by my mother or father, I wouldn't mind so much because they are responsible of me and they need to make sure I do the right things, so that would be okay. The idea of my life being planned for me would be a big negative thing. I like being able to learn more and that way I know I am capable of making choices and planning my own future.

As a twelve year old what I like to think about is in six years, I will graduate and pick my own career and I can know that I'm not under pressure to chose an education that I'm not interested in. Since I was a young girl, I have always loved children and I used to take care of children at the age of five. I used to think it was normal and when I would get older, i would think the children would be annoying; although, now as an twelve year old, I still love children and decided to become a pediatrician for my profession. My grade for Health class has always been a A+ and it was great to know that someday, this would help me if I wanted to go to medical school. After thinking over this question, "Would you want your future to be decided by others? Why or why not?" I knew that if I were to do a job that had nothing to do with what I want, then I would never look forward to my future and I wouldn't enjoy working where, if I could chose my job by myself I would be happy to work.

My future is very important and chosing by myself is how i plan to live it. Having my life planned by someone else than myself is not what I plan on doing and I wont do so anytime soon. I am very glad my life isn't planned for me by another person!!!

Letter to the author of WHITE MOUNTAINS final blog post

Dear John Christopher,

I just loved this book it was great and very interesting. In my school we learned about the word void in it and void means space and with this book the tensity was very attention grabbing. I was always wondering what made you think of starting this book? I also wanted to know if, an event that might have happened that caused you to start writing about Tripods? Does this book have a different meaning to you? For example, as a reader, I think this book is trying to tell me that I should trust my own heart and not what people tell me; and, I think it is telling you, if you are set to do something, don't give up on doing it.

Since I did literature circles, I had thought long and hard about parts in the book and because of that I noticed things that I wouldn't have noticed before. When I read about the cap in Will's arm, and how Beanpole was trying to pull it out, I noticed that, I hadn't really cared much about the reason why he was doing it. Then I began thinking, maybe the author was trying to teach people that, sometimes people do crazy things and that it's good to do crazy things sometimes.

When reading, I was thinking about the names you had put for the characters and I wanted to know what made you think of them. Especially the names Zhan Pole and Ozymandias. The name Ozymandias is a Greek name, I know this because I am studying about a ancient egyptian pharaoh named Ramses II and people called him Ozymandias. Did you know about him? When you open the book to the VERY first page it says, To Jessica: this, and the rest, with love. I thought maybe she had encouraged you to write this book or she had spoken about something that made you think of writing this book.

How is this passage teaching people about life? Blog Post #4 White Mountians

I think, the passage is teaching people, that they need be their own person and not to let yourself depend on somone or somthing else. In the book's case, Will is talking about the idea, of going against the Tripods and not depending on them to prove that you are an adult. People don't work or get married if they have not been capped because they believe that once you are capped, then you are an adult. Will notices there is something suspicious about them. This is kind of like the saying, "Do not trust, listen, or take candy from strangers." because you don't know what you're really getting into. Will quoted, "What value did courage have, without a free and challenging mind to direct it?" The author didn't just write a book, but it had a meaning to it and that is why it such a good book. They are entertaining, and teaching us at the same time.

Band homework

The International School of Kuala Lumpur provides an exceptional education that challenges each students to develop the attitudes, skills, knowledge and understanding to become highly successful, spirited, socially responsible (silence) global citizen.

The reason I chose to put the silence before global citizens because, the pause gives more dramatic effect to the sentence, in other words now there is a void because void is what people or audience members notice the most. Void is very powerful and it is very important so that your speaking isn't monotonous and it makes the listener have more attention to you when speaking or playing music. Putting silences, growing stronger (louder), gradually softer (quiet), playing an instrument and playing total nonsence then playing normally etc... Anything that draws a lot of attention is void, I might as well write (void) instead of (silence) and that is what the silence before the two words global citizen is... VOID
